Fashion's biggest night? Based on the iconic hair, makeup and nail looks that hit the 2023 Met Gala red carpet tonight, we think it's also the biggest night of beauty ever. This year's theme is a tribute to the creations of the late designer Karl Lagerfeld - aesthetically speaking, this is reflected in everything from classic fresh makeup, to dark manicures secured with chains, and even imitations of A handcrafted prosthetic of the designer's beloved cat, Choupette.
Emma Chamberlain
newest face of Lancôme
The newest face of Lancôme is in her blue period, wearing a gorgeous navy and periwinkle smoky eye and matching headband. Her sleek look was created by stylist Sami Knight.
Dua Lipa looked like a princess with glossy waves, creamy rose lipstick, and a shimmery cat-eye flick done by none other than Dame Pat McGrath.
Quannah Chasinghorse
We've never met a glossy lip we didn't love, and Quannah Chasinghorse's popsicle-pink look is no exception. We're also loving her effortless, free-flowing waves, thanks to essentials from Paul Mitchell.
Matching your glittery eye shadow to your hair color? Only Phoebe Bridgers could pull off a look so subtle yet so gorgeous. Glam was by Gianpaolo Ceciliato for Tata Harper Skincare and hair was by Josue Perez for Innersense Organic Beauty.
"With Phoebe, the process of creating her look for the Met Gala was very organic. When I first saw the dress at the fitting, I was instantly inspired by a sultry smoky eye," Ceciliato says in a statement. "I wanted to create a contrast between dramatically strong eyes and a delicate porcelain skin.”
Quinta Brunson's hair is a work of art. Her sculptural braids were complemented by the addition of white feathers and slick baby hair, styled by Alexander Armand.
Emily Ratajkowski
Never one to shy away from a temporary hair change, Emily Ratajkowski debuted blunt baby bangs on the Met Gala red carpet. Makeup was by Linda Hay for Pat McGrath Labs.
This look is all about details, from a lashy smoky eye, gorgeous cornrows, and two single white braids draped down each shoulder. Her smoky makeup is by Andrea Tiller for Milk Makeup, with skin prep by QMS Medicosmetics.
More pink lips on the Met Gala carpet, this time on Maya Hawke who paired it with a wavy shag and retro lashes. Her soft pout by Mary Wiles for Le Rouge Français.
The hair. The makeup. The skin? Nobody glows harder than Naomi Campbell. Plus, her glam was by legend Dame Pat McGrath.
We're loving Lily James's stylish updo paired with leather flowers and a set of baby bangs, created by stylist Halley Brisker using Olaplex. "The inspiration for the look was a 90’s leather-core sharpness and punk twist on classic Chanel," Brisker explains. "Lindbergh and Herb Ritts were image makers I had looked at during my mood boarding process.”
